About the Doctors

We are a group of pediatric (children’s) dentists and orthodontists that practices in Richmond, Midlothian and Colonial Heights, Virginia. As dental specialists, we have invested in additional training beyond dental school to make sure that we provide you and your child the most state-of-the-art dental care available. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality dental care in a friendly and caring environment.

DOCTORS:

James M. Keeton, Jr., D.M.D. – Pediatric Dentist

Dr. James KeetonDr. Keeton graduated from Vanderbilt University. He then attended the University Of Kentucky College Of Dentistry, where he graduated with honors. He completed his internship at Queens General Hospital in New York City before returning to Kentucky for a two-year residency in Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Keeton and his wife, Gloria, have three children; one of his sons, David has graduated from dental school and has started his training in pediatric dentistry. He loves to hunt and fish and has a love-hate relationship with golf.


April Bridges-Poquis, D.D.S. - Orthodontist

Dr. April Bridges-PoquisDr. April Bridges-Poquis is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Virginia, where she majored in chemistry with specialization in biochemistry. She went to dental school at the Medical College of Virginia, where she graduated number two in her class and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Honorary Dental Society. While in dental school, Dr. Bridges-Poquis was the recipient of 16 honors and awards, including the American Association of Orthodontists Award for exceptional interest in the development of the Oro-Facial complex. Dr. Bridges-Poquis then completed an additional two years of post-graduate training, serving her orthodontic residency at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Bridges-Poquis has published an abstract in the Journal of Dental Research, and has published a case report in the Angle Journal of Orthodontics.

She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Southeast Association of Orthodontists.

Dr. Bridges-Poquis and her husband, Dr. Greg Poquis, a general dentist practicing in Richmond, enjoy living in Richmond with their son, Ryan. They are expecting a daughter in February 2010. Her hobbies include running, playing the flute, and reading. Dr. Bridges-Poquis also loves Disney movies and enjoys visiting Disney World as much as she can.



Meera A. Gokli, D.D.S. – Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Meera A. GokliDr. Gokli went to dental school and served her pediatric dental residency at the Medical College of Virginia.  She has passed additional examinations to become a Diplomate (Board Certified) of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.  She also teaches at the Medical College of Virginia.

She has been President and member of the Va. Board of Dentistry, past president of the Va. Society of Pediatric Dentistry and Virginia's representative for the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry and Virginia Dental Association Hero. 

She is a member of the ADA, VDA, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Richmond Dental Society, VA Pediatric Dental Society and the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry.  Dr. Gokli is a member of the Board of Children's Hospital in Richmond and a member of Richmond Association of Women Dentists.

Dr. Gokli has been married to the same wonderful gentleman for over twenty-eight years and has a daughter in Medical School and a son in college. She loves traveling, has won many awards in ping pong and tennis. She is a certified chef and author of an Indian cookbook for her temple.


Steven Lubbe, D.M.D. – Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Steven LubbeDr. Lubbe attended the University of Kentucky for two more years completing his residency in Pediatric Dentistry. He attended Centre College in Danville, Kentucky before attending the University Of Kentucky College Of Dentistry.

Dr. Lubbe is married to Rhonda Lubbe and they have two wonderful boys.

Dr. Steve Lubbe began working in a dental office at approximately ten years of age when he started helping his father, also a pediatric dentist, with small jobs around the office. "Working with the teeth of children, young adults, and special needs patients seems very natural for me because I've observed and participated in Pediatric Dentistry for most of my life. I feel very fortunate to come to work each day. I'm blessed to work with children and young adults, the patients I'm lucky enough to care for and the people I work with (great assistants and staff) make this job the best."


Chad Schanilec, D.D.S. - Orthodontist

Dr. Chad SchanilecDr. Schanilec has expertise in all phases of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. Being in various settings has given him experience in complex treatments such as cleft palate, orthogonathic surgery, and esthetic multidisciplinary cases.

He attended The University of North Dakota and earned his dental degree from The University of Iowa. He completed his specialty training in orthodontics at The Medical College of Virginia in 2001.

Dr. Schanilec’s free time is spent outdoors camping, biking and snowboarding as well as enjoying music.
